Ambassador Helps Welcome New Citizens in Brooklyn
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, third from left, celebrates the naturalization of 146 new American citizens from 51 countries Wednesday at a ceremony held at the Federal Courthouse in Brooklyn. Standing next to her is Eastern District of New York Chief Judge Carol Bagley Amon, and District Judge Margo Brodie, fourth and fifth from left. Brodie, who is from Antigua, was naturalized in the Brooklyn Courthouse in 1996. Power, who emmigrated from Ireland in 1979, told the gathering she entered the "very same Brooklyn Courthouse as an Irish citizen" knowing she would "walk out as an American."
