Overview of the Position: The Probation clerk provides clerical support, assist persons under supervision and stakeholders, both in the office and via phone or email, assist probation officers or other administrative staff with correspondence creation or review. Facilitate administrative and clerical work to optimize office support operations, as required.

Qualification

A minimum of a high school diploma, or equivalent and two years of general experience is required.

Background Check: As an employee of the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas, new hires are required to undergo a federal background investigation, which includes a Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint check, credit check, and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) record check.  

Conditions of Employment: Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or eligible to work in the United States. As an employee of the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas, new hires are required to undergo a background investigation. The Probation and Pretrial Services Office will complete an investigation of criminal record, motor vehicle records, credit reports, and employment checks.  

General Experience

Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the possession of, or the ability to acquire, the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience

Progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience requiring the regular and recurring application of clerical procedures that demonstrate the ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives, or laws and involve the routine use of specialized terminology and automated software and equipment for word processing, data entry or report generation. Such experience is commonly encountered in law firms, legal counsel offices, banking and credit firms, educational institutions, social service organizations, insurance companies, real estate and title offices, and corporate headquarters or human resources/payroll operations.
