Overview of the Position: Preference given to applications received by Aug. 12, 2024. The Clerk’s Office of the U.S. District Court is seeking applicants for a Chief Deputy Clerk in the Phoenix division. The Chief Deputy is an executive-level position that reports directly to the District Court Executive/Clerk of Court (DCE/Clerk). The Chief Deputy is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Court’s administrative and operational functions in the Phoenix division. The Chief Deputy will provide primary oversight in the areas of systems technology, human resources, space and facilities, financial activities including budget management, and court operations. District-wide responsibility may be assigned in some of these areas. In the absence of the DCE/Clerk, the Chief Deputy assumes the duties and responsibilities of the DCE/Clerk for all court operations, which requires physical presence. This position is not eligible for telework. The District of Arizona has four divisional offices located in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff and Yuma, with 26 U.S. District Judges (13 authorized, 13 senior), 14 Magistrate Judges and a Clerk’s Office and Consolidated Administrative Services staff of over 180 employees.
