The recently opened 10-story U.S. courthouse in Buffalo, N.Y., is home not only to the federal judiciary but also provides office space for the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Attorney, and the General Services Administration.
The building includes five district court and four magistrate judge courtrooms, 11 judicial chambers, the local federal public defender and probation and pretrial services offices, and a satellite library.
The environmentally friendly building features colored glass panels designed by Buffalo native Robert Mangold in its lobby. Some of the text of the U.S. Constitution is etched on the glass facade of the courthouse’s pavilion, and casts shadows of the words on those who pass through the pavilion entrance.
