Abstract:

The Probation and Pretrial Services Office of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts was tasked with developing a series of statistical dashboards that would allow judges to view their own pretrial release rates by a variety of characteristics and compare them to the nation or their circuit or the district where they reside. These dashboards were created and then disseminated to the federal judicial community in early 2022, with an update occurring in early 2023. This article provides an overview of the pretrial dashboards, including future implications of the dashboards for the federal pretrial system.
