Abstract:
The authors measure the attitudes of probation officers pre- and post-training and their motivation to use new supervision techniques, finding that officers, like others, might experience ambivalence about changing their roles. While ambivalence seems to decrease post-test, organizations should consider and address staff ambivalence in a functional way before embarking on major changes.
