Overview of the Position The Pretrial Services office in Southern District of California is accepting applications for the position of U.S. Pretrial Services Technician. The Pretrial Services Technician provides office assistance in accordance with approved internal procedures and policies. The incumbent provides a variety of administrative support to Pretrial Services Officers and administration in a wide range of areas including preparing forms documents and conducting on-line record checks and creating and maintaining case files.

Position Description

Representative duties include but are not limited to: Assist pretrial services officers running record checks through local and national data bases and files. Enter data and information into the office computerized system, including PACTS. Maintain integrity of the filing system by such means as monitoring proper access to records and maintaining timely and accurate filing of documents. Create new investigative files at the discretion of pretrial services officers and maintain files up to date in accordance with established office policies and procedures. Scan case files and upload documents to PACTS and document storage system. Assist with data entry, as required. Maintain, update, track paper, and electronic files. Assisting with procurement, scanning, and filing documents into the database. Prepare administrative assistance to managers, supervisors, and other support staff, as required. Perform data entry functions. Generate standard reports from databases and computerized systems. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications must be met at the time of the application.

Minimum Qualifications: To qualify for the position of U.S. Pretrial Services Technician, an applicant must have a High School diploma plus two years of general experience

Level/Required Education/Experience: CL-23 High school graduation or equivalent and two years of general experience

Court Preferred Skills: Spanish speaker and prior similar experience preferred

For placement at salary levels above minimum up to and including step 25, one year or more of specialized experience is required.

Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the possession of, or the ability to acquire, the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience

Progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience requiring the regular and recurring application of clerical procedures that demonstrate the ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives, or laws and involve the routine use of specialized terminology and automated software and equipment for word processing, data entry or report generation. Such experience is commonly encountered in law firms, legal counsel offices, banking and credit firms, educational institutions, social service organizations, insurance companies, real estate and title offices, and corporate headquarters or human resources/payroll operations.
